Sonic 4 is SEGA's latest endeavour in the franchise to bring Sonic back to the masses.. This game has been advertised as a "back-to-basics" platformer, and as such has proven to be quite a stir among Sonic fans. Both old and new Sonic fans have been making a lot of noise over this game as time has progressed. Here are some facts & resources about the game: Screenshots:img199.imageshack.us/img199/5776/wii48presonicgr01screen.jpgimg51.imageshack.us/img51/1686/wii48presonicgr02screen.jpgimg340.imageshack.us/img340/1334/wii48presonicgr03screen.jpgimg406.imageshack.us/img406/6464/wii48presonicgr05screen.jpgimg707.imageshack.us/img707/1605/wii48presonicgr06screen.jpgimg690.imageshack.us/img690/1256/wii48presonicgr07screen.jpgimg705.imageshack.us/img705/6609/wii48presonicgr08screen.jpgimg132.imageshack.us/img132/9043/wii48presonicgr09screen.jpgimg528.imageshack.us/img528/6052/wii48presonicgr10screen.jpgPublisher: Sega Developer: Sonic Team / Dimps System(s): Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, iPhone*, N2 Platform* Released in US: July 2010 Released in EU: July 2010 Released in JP: July 2010 Genre: 2D Platformer * ( To be confirmed or discredited) (This is a topic to discuss your opinion, this is NOT a topic to get offensive or create hostility in.) To kick things off, from what I've seen and heard up to now. I believe I will enjoy Sonic 4; not as a sequel, but as a best of collection. The game itself and its' zones comprise of content from Sonic 1 through 3 and none of this content is original. I would've liked a set of new badniks in the old style since the title Sonic 4 is a very big set of shoes to fill. Don't misunderstand any of what I'm saying, I'll love this game as a trip to the past and back, not a sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I can't wait to get it on my 360 and play it all the way through multiple times.

From the start, I knew how this game would turn out. I based my judgements from how SEGA always seems to think ' If Nintendo was okay, we should be to!'. With the 'New Super Mario Bros. Wii' just recently released, I assumed SEGA would go for that kind of feel. Thing is, I am totally okay with the choice they made. I don't need entirely new badniks to enjoy this game, I don't need Tails and Knuckles to enjoy this game. As long as it's the basic formula that has worked for 2D Sonic up until now, I know I'll love it! The fact that it takes place in retro Sonic worlds is a bonus to me. As well as the music, it's just nice to hear music like old times again.

I don't need Tails and Knuckles to enjoy this game. I do Tails should be in this game hes my favorite character I don't like playing games without Tails or Jigglypuff otherwise I won't like it.

I honestly haven't gone into too much depth within leaks or updates for Sonic 4 as I would rather not be too spoiled on anything. XD From what I HAVE seen though, SEGA looks like they're doing a pretty amazing job so far. Sure there may be a few nit picks here and there, but hey I still think it looks great. I won't be able to give a full opinion on what exactly I think of the game overall until it comes out and I'm able to see the game in full action. =)

What does everyone think of the graphics? I, personally would've liked 16-bit sprites and the genesis styled everything, but things don't always turn out like we planned, do they? 'Retro' Sonic for the win. Though, I also like 'Adventure' styled Sonic, current gen is kinda ugly in my opinion.

Well with the graphics, why making an exact copy of a game that you have already made? All I can see at the moment different with Sonic 4 than the retro games is that the graphics are 3-D. If they did it with the retro graphics, why don't you just go and play Sonic 1/2/3 ?
And with the absence of most of the characters it would be interesting to see what the story, if there is any, is meant to be.

The story is meant to be a direct follow off from Sonic 3, on the website it says that Sonic has taken a break to re-explore lands on his own. And what with the possibility of Metal Sonic making an appearance, I think it's good to have some solo action ;D

(I haven't played a Sonic game since Next-Gen K? >:V)

I'm kind of on the ropes, because i'm afraid of the aftermath. If people don't like then SEGA is finished, since they're already getting lots of hate from retro fan-brats. But if people do thats a good thing right?
It could go ethier way, I want it to succeed, but i'm afraid that it's going to cause an uproar.

Honestly, I think the whole argument about sega using new sonic design is silly. There isn't much difference at all. Sure he's taller, a different shade of blue, and his eyes are green, but what really matters is who sonic is on the inside. And even then, thats not the biggest part of the whole entire game. The GAMEPLAY also matters, you know.

This is what I hate about the Sonic fanbase, to use Black Knight as a dummy for a second, people didn't want to buy it because he had a sword, he had green eyes, he was taller, there was a gimmick and his voice actor wasn't Ryan Drummond. Lather, rinse, repeat with Unleashed.

I'd want to know the release date so that way it gives me something to look forward to. But this and Colors actually look like they might be a little glimmer of hope for the dull games SEGA has made of Sonic.
